As the pandemic makes it prudent to keep our regular youth program on hold, Darcy Nix, Christian Education and Youth Coordinator, has been reaching out to our youth members and their parents to ask how our young people are doing. This month she contacted two families and shares the responses of their moms.
First, a brother and sister team:
Oliver has been having a great year at school in Mrs. Anglin’s fifth-grade class. He has also been participating in the 4-H garden club, planting strawberries and vidalia onions and also propagating shrubs.
Issabel is having a great year in Mrs. Holloway’s third-grade class and got to have her first-grade teacher, Mrs. Mullis, for reading this year. She has been going to Girl Scouts each week, where they wear masks and maintain social distance. She has earned a lot of skills badges.
Next, a few words about Christy:
Christy is loving third grade at Mount Yonah Elementary. She began piano lessons this summer, and she played two beautiful pieces at her first recital last week. Christy also enjoys learning scriptures on Wednesday nights at an AWANA program and is working on mastering her backbend kick-over in gymnastics.
