Last month, Darcy Nix, Christian Education and Youth Coordinator, reached out to three of our youth members and their parents to inquire how the young people have been dealing with this unusual summer. This month she reached three more and shares their responses with you.

Evelyn-Jean (EJ) has used her time during quarantine well. She has learned to ride a bicycle without training wheels, she has mastered swimming underwater, she continues to help her Gammi and Papa take care of her three goats and three chickens, and she graduated from pre-K!
EJ is now a kindergartner at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School and loves her new teacher and school. She is a problem solver and loves to do science experiments and decorate cakes with fondant. As you all know she is funny, confident, and at times a bit tender-hearted. She misses her friends from church and very much looks forward to seeing you all again soon.

James just started his 11th grade year at White County High School. He had a busy summer with two trips to Florida — one with his family and one with his best friend — and a job as a zipline guide at Unicoi State Park.
He is looking forward to his first hunting trip to Colorado with his dad the first week in September. They will be bow hunting for elk. When he’s not at work or school, James stays busy lifting weights, gaming, swimming, and shooting basketball with friends.

Maggie is loving eighth grade. She is the manager of the volleyball team, and she has been swimming at Habersham Aquatics Center with the Rapids swim team. She is also enjoying pickleball at Skylake!
She really likes her classes this year, especially social studies with Mrs. Brooke Adams and math with Mr. Fullerton. She also is taking weight training and loves her business class with Mr. Westmoreland. She is happy to be back in school, but she misses church and youth group!
