Nachoochee Presbyterian Church is one of 14 area churches and community partners, who support Family Promise of White and Habersham. The mission is to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community – based response. Family Promise provides temporary housing, meals and services to an average of 3 families at a time for a maximum of 90 days, All adult family members staying in the shelter in Cleveland are fully vetted (with background check and drug screens.) During their stay at the Family Promise shelter volunteers offer the families classes on financial literacy, life skills, and parenting. The program also helps them to find and prepare for secure jobs, and gives them guidance on finding and obtaining affordable housing.
