On Sunday, June 23, our fellowship time after worship doubled as a book reading. Former member Mike Coleman spoke about and read to us from his recently published memoir, The Way from Me to Us. The book chronicles Mike and his husband Ted’s relationship over the past almost 50 years, honestly and bravely sharing stories of love and loss, tribulation and triumph. Though Nacoochee Presbyterian doesn’t show up until page 255, the role the church plays in the story is a wonderful reminder of the importance of truly inclusive church communities, and the difference we can make.
