We are delighted to announce that there will be a service in the style of Taizé on Wednesday, December 15. We will follow our tradition of beginning at 5:30 pm with a beautiful harp prelude offered by Mary Raymer. The service itself will begin at 6:00 pm. These services usually last a little under an hour. The church will look especially beautiful with the advent/Christmas greenery illuminated by the glow of candles.
Taizé services are a form of contemplative worship that incorporate sung and spoken prayers; simple, beautiful music; meditation; and liturgical readings. There is no preaching. These ecumenical services are based on a style of worship developed at the Taizé community in France founded in the 1940s. Dress is casual.
