On October 14 of this year, Homestead Hospice and Palliative Care center in Blairsville, Georgia, presented Stephen Spier of Demorest with a Quilt of Valor for his service in the U.S. Coast Guard.
The quilt and an accompanying pillowcase were donated by the national Quilts of Valor Foundation and designed locally by the Misty Mountain Quilters. The presentation ceremony was held at Magnolia Hills, an assisted living facility in Demorest, Georgia, where Spier currently resides.
At the presentation ceremony, Shannon Larsen of Homestead Hospice read about the Quilts of Valor, sharing their meaning and history, and then quilted Spier and presented him with a pin for his service in the Coast Guard.
Those readers with good memories will recall that one of our other members, Hal Symes, who also resides at Magnolia Hills, received a Quilt of Valor on November 11, 2020.
