On October 30, a dedication ceremony, long-delayed by Covid concerns, was held for the NPC solar panels. Originally installed in May of 2020, the panels have been instrumental in helping reduce the carbon footprint of NPC, along with the electricity bills! Nancy Greear, who was instrumental in facilitating the installation, spoke during the ceremony. She said some of goals of the installation were to make the church more sustainable for the future, save money, and help protect God’s creation. An anonymous donor supplied much of the funds to make the installation possible.

Standing in front of the solar array are (L-R) Codi Norred, Johnny Valentine, Nancy Greear, Delbert Greear, and interim pastor Teresa Franklin.
Special guests for the ceremony were Codi Norred. Executive Director of Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, and Johnny Valentine, owner of Gain Solar of Gainesville. Mr. Norred helped guide the process of preparing for the solar array, while Mr. Valentine’s company did the actual installation. Norred said that NPC was one of only fifteen faith communities in Georgia that had installed solar panels, which was a notable achievement. NPC will reap the benefits of the solar panels for many years!

Johnny Valentine, owner of Gain Solar of Gainesville, talks about the installation of the panels during October’s fifth Sunday potluck meal.
