Through the summer months, the church’s Property Committee continues attending to tasks related to the church building and grounds. Here are three examples:
- The Property Committee is conducting an update of our inventory, last completed in 2008. With the building of our new addition and with the passage of time, many things have changed since that earlier inventory was recorded. An accurate listing of church property is a vitally important resource in case we should ever have to file an insurance claim or respond to an emergency situation.
- Many volunteers contribute hours to keep our grounds neat and beautiful. We express special appreciation to Patrick Evans, who recently pressure-washed the walk to the memorial garden and the stone walkway inside the garden. What a dramatic difference that cleaning made. Thank you Patrick!
- Our solar panel array is working hard to reduce our dependence on commercial energy sources. At the end of June 2021, we completed one year of experience with our solar panels. During that time, the solar array generated 773 kWh more electrical energy than we used. Granted, this time period was during months when we only partially used our facilities because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, we realized significant cost savings and reduced our carbon footprint.
As these activities show, the work of our Property Committee is diverse and time-consuming, and we very much appreciate their efforts.
