
Members and friends of Nacoochee Presbyterian are involved in a number of peace, justice, and environmental issues — speaking out, taking action, and working for positive change in our community and our world.
In March we all have the opportunity to make our voices heard by submitting comments to the EPA about their upcoming updates to soot pollution standards. Interfaith Power & Light, who helped NPC get our solar panels, have a page on their website that makes it very simple to send a message. Submit comments here.
This past month Joanne Sweeney was in Savannah for the visit of the Golden Rule, a historic wooden sailboat that is on a 11,00-mile voyage to raise awareness about the dangers of nuclear testing and promote peace. Read more here
In March she will be part of a gathering to mark the 12th anniversary of the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear accident near the Oconee Nuclear Plant and her husband, James Sweeney, will be making a pilgrimage to Montgomery with their Buddhist friends.
