Let me begin by expressing my deep appreciation to this congregation for the “Prim Fund” gift you gave me and my family this Christmas! As in years past, it was generous. Through this gift and the many others we received during the holidays and throughout the year, my family feels the love and support of this beautiful congregation. Thank you.
You also expressed your support for me in 2019 by giving me a 14-week sabbatical! It was a renewing time for me. I am grateful to Denise Bobo, our church administrator, Barbara Luhn, our music director, the Session, the Deacons, and Gary Bagley, parish associate, for all the ways each of them stepped up to provide leadership and stability during my time away.
The year 2020 will be an important one in our life together. During the weekend of August 7 to 9, 2020, we will celebrate our 150th year as a congregation! The Session and Deacons will meet to begin planning for the new year on January 11, and this 150th year celebration will be one of the important items on the agenda.
On January 12, we will be ordaining and installing new elders and deacons. Gwen Aumann, John Lumsden, and Jennifer Thomas will be ordained and installed as elders. Elizabeth Crittenden and Kathie Meaders will be ordained and installed as deacons. Many thanks to these members of our congregation who have sensed a call to leadership at NPC!
The Session will meet on January 19 at 10:00 am to receive new members. Please let me know if you or someone you know is interested in membership.
On January 19 at both services, in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday, I will share, as I have done for many years now, a sermon from Dr. King.
Peace,
Bob
