Thank you all for the monetary donations so far to our Fellowship Fundraiser. Money is being collected for items that are needed in the kitchen, in the fellowship hall, and to have more outside events for you to enjoy. Special fellowship events will be a time where we will be collecting donations. If you are not able to be at these special events, you are still welcome to make a donation to the Fellowship Fundraiser. If you are writing a check please make it out to NPC and write Fellowship Fundraiser in the memo line. These special Fellowship Fundraiser events will be happening through the end of the year.
Discovering the NPC Kitchen
There are many, many things to discover at church, but I think sometimes the best is the kitchen. Now, I know I am in charge of Fellowship at NPC, and I might be a bit biased, but there are always exciting talks, laughter, and business in the kitchen that reminds me of good times with my family. I remember as a kid sharing funny stories in the kitchen when I got home from school, learning new recipes, making cookies and cakes with my grandmother and my Mom, and helping my Mom and Dad wash and dry dishes in the kitchen. Often, they didn’t ask us to help, but we knew we should. Of course, we all had chores to do. There was always a time to help set the table or take out the trash, wash and dry the dishes, and sweep the floor after a meal. We all pitched in to help because then my parents were not exhausted, and the faster we finished the faster we could enjoy more time with family.
Just like the church kitchen we may not always ask for help because we are all so busy, but we sure could use a helping hand. You are always welcome in the kitchen, and it may be hard to leave. I know because there are shiny things in there, and yummy smells, and contagious laughter, and stories to share. Do come in when we run low on water in the pitchers or there isn’t any more cream. The sink is so close, and the refrigerator is so shiny with buttons to push from the ice maker. Thank you to those that have volunteered so many times in the kitchen. Like the saying goes, “ many hands make light work.”
Fellowship Sign Up
The sign up for Fellowship is on the bulletin board the Fellowship Hall. I invite you to sign up and bring one thing to share to go with coffee. Oh and don’t forget the cream!! You can bring two things if you want to provide more but it is not necessary. When you see a spread of food it means we just had an event so there is lots of food to eat the following day. Don’t feel intimidated either by what someone else may bring. Say it 3 times, “bring one item.” Cookies or brownies or chips or crackers or fruit. You decide. Don’t worry if what you are bringing isn’t gluten free. We have gluten free items on hand. We will teach you to use the dishwasher. It is so easy. And there are so many people to help you. You do not need to make the coffee. Thank you, Jerry White for making regular and decaf coffee for us every Sunday.
Fellowship Volunteers
Fellowship Committee needs more volunteers! There are many jobs to fill. Do you like to help with planning events, especially ones that have to do with food? Do you like to go shopping for specific events? Is your passion inside the kitchen washing dishes or putting away dishes or putting away items that were needed for the event? Do you like to call people to volunteer? Would you like to be a runner during an event? There may be a job I haven’t mentioned and if you have it in mind bring it to us and we will welcome you with open arms! Come to a meeting on Wednesday, October 19 from 1-2 if you would like to volunteer and learn more. Of course, I will have a snack for you!
