CHICKENS (and the eggs)!
For the past two years, Stan Foster and Rebecca Shedd have done considerable research on malnutrition among the Mam children in Guatemala. These children live in desolate areas where supplies are scarce. They typically eat the foods their mothers grow, often devoid of protein that is necessary for optimal growth.
Before the coronavirus epidemic, our church Outreach Committee sent a check to CEDEPCA to help with the Mam Women’s Association’s ongoing micro-loan program. We have learned that the money we sent was used to buy 125 chickens delivered to the areas with the most severe childhood malnutrition. These children will now have protein-rich eggs to add to their diet!
Sherry Perkins, chair of our Outreach Committee, writes, “This has been such a blessing to me, as I have seen these children firsthand. I want to thank the congregation for your continued support of the Outreach Committee’s work.”
