The feast of All Saints’ will be celebrated on Sunday November 6th this year. All Saints’ is a day when we commemorate all the departed saints of the church, both known and unknown. While officially celebrated on November 1st (a Tuesday this year) many churches, ours included, will celebrate this day on the Sunday following November 1st. During our service all will be invited to name aloud or silently the names of loved ones who have died. We will begin with Teresa reading the names of members and friends of our church who have died since All Saints’ Sunday, 2021. We will then be invited to name others who have died during the past year, followed by loved ones who have died in years past.
Another lovely tradition that has taken root at NPC invites those who wish to bring pictures of departed loved ones. Tables for the display of these pictures will be available in the fellowship hall. You are invited to also bring a card identifying those in the photos – blank cards will also be available for labeling.
Also available will be a banner decorated with ribbons on which to pin a bell and the names of departed saints in our lives – it will be next to the display tables.
